Privacy Policy
For the Music + Gambling Discord bot · last updated 16 September 2026
This policy covers the Discord bot Music + Gambling ("the bot"). It explains exactly what the bot stores, why it needs it, and how to get it removed. If you use the bot, this is what you are agreeing to.
The bot does not store the content of your messages. Nothing you type in a channel is written to disk, logged, or read by a human. See Message content for detail on why the bot can still read messages at all.
What the bot stores
All of it is either a Discord ID number or a value you created by using a command.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Discord user ID | To attach a balance, inventory and cooldowns to you. Stored per server, so your balance in one server is unrelated to another. |
| Server (guild) ID, and the server's name and member count | To keep each server's economy, shop and settings separate, and so the operators can see which servers the bot is in. |
| Economy state — balance, bank, inventory, job, level and XP, daily streak, jail and cooldown timers | This is the feature. Without it the bot has nothing to show you. |
| A transaction log — amount, type, and timestamp of economy events | Powers /transactions, and lets a server admin investigate cheating or
reverse a mistake. |
| Role and channel IDs an admin configures | Shop role rewards, DJ roles, staff roles, the command prefix. |
| Music: the track titles and links you queue, your saved favourites and playlists, and the user ID that requested each track | Powers the queue, /music history, and saved playlists. Favourites and
playlists are tied to you, not to a server, so they follow you between servers. |
| Blacklist entries — a user or server ID plus a reason | Only created if the operators have to block someone for abusing the bot. |
What the bot does not store
- Message content, attachments, or anything you type outside of a command's parameters.
- Voice audio. The bot transmits audio into a voice channel; it never records one.
- Email addresses, real names, IP addresses, or payment details. The bot never asks for them and has nowhere to put them.
- Direct messages.
Message content
The bot may request Discord's Message Content privileged intent so that text
commands using a server's prefix (for example !balance) work at all. Messages are
inspected in memory to see whether they begin with that prefix, and are then discarded.
Message text is never written to a database, never logged to a file, and never transmitted
anywhere.
If that intent is not granted, the bot runs on slash commands only and its features are otherwise unchanged.
Who it is shared with
Nobody. The data is not sold, rented, or handed to advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party.
Two unavoidable exceptions, both inherent to how the bot works:
- Discord — the bot's messages and responses travel through Discord, under Discord's own privacy policy.
- Media sources — when you queue a track, the bot requests it from the site that hosts it. That site sees a request from the server the bot runs on. It does not receive your Discord identity.
Where it is kept
In SQLite database files on a private server rented and controlled by the bot's operators. Access is limited to the operators named below. Backups are kept on the same basis.
How long it is kept
- Economy and music data is kept for as long as the bot is in your server, so your balance survives restarts.
- Music play history is trimmed automatically after 30 days.
- If the bot is removed from a server, that server's data is retained rather than deleted immediately — bots are frequently removed and re-added, and wiping every balance on a temporary removal would do more harm than good. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time, and it is deleted on request.
Getting your data deleted
Two ways, both honoured:
- Run
/privacy deletein the server you want removed from. This erases your balance, bank, inventory, transaction log and cooldowns in that server immediately, and cannot be undone. - Ask an operator through the contact below — for a whole server's data, for your music favourites and playlists, or for everything the bot holds on you across all servers.
Run /privacy show to see what the bot currently holds on you before deciding.
Children
Discord requires users to be at least 13, or older where local law sets a higher age. The bot is not intended for anyone below that age. If you believe a child's data is held here, use the contact below and it will be removed.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the change is announced in the support server. Continuing to use the bot after that means accepting the revised policy.
